Vancouver Canucks launch program to help pay part-time employees

4 years agoFollowing suit with other clubs around the NHL, the Vancouver Canucks have offered up a program to help pay their part-time employees.
The program, Francesco Aquillini said, will be available for “any part-time employee who requires support to avoid financial hardship during this unexpected employment disruption.”
While details are not yet available, a Canucks Sports and Entertainment statement gives a bit more detail:
“Canucks Sports & Entertainment (CSE) recognizes the importance of its staff to our fans, our arena experience and business overall. CSE has committed to a program that will help any part-time employee who requires support. The program will be based on individual need, to avoid financial hardship during this unexpected employment disruption.“The safety and well-being of all Rogers Arena staff and guests remains at the forefront of every decision made related to controlling the spread of the COVID-19 virus.”
14 other NHL clubs have stepped up to help their employees: Anaheim, Dallas, Detroit, Edmonton, Florida, Nashville, New Jersey, Philadephia, Pittsburgh, San Jose, Tampa Bay, Toronto, Washington, and now Vancouver will be offering some form of assistance.
Meanwhile, the Calgary Flames announced earlier today they would not be compensating employees.
