The Vancouver Canucks issued qualifying offers to seven players, none of which named Troy Stecher.
The team did, however, issue offers to @Justin Bailer, @Guillaume Briseboise, @Jalen Chatfield, @Adam Gaudette, @Jake Kielly, @Tyler Motte and @Jake Virtanen.
The move means Stetcher will be heading to unrestricted free agency Friday and while it doesn’t rule out a potential return to Vancouver, it seems unlikely.
Stecher, 26, has been a mainstay on Vancouver’s blueline for the last four years. A native of nearby Richmond, B.C., he went undrafted playing NCAA hockey at the University of North Dakota.
In four seasons, he has scored 11 goals and 64 points in 286 games for the Canucks.
