The Vancouver Canucks haven’t called Evander Kane’s agent, but he’s going to call them

Recently, we outlined how the San Jose Sharks have terminated the contract of forward Evander Kane after Kane reportedly travelled to Vancouver while positive for COVID-19.
Kane has had all sorts of off-ice issues highlighted recently, including his partner making social media posts about his alleged gambling addiction and more.
The Sharks cut bait with Kane, and in a statement, said the termination was due to a “breach of his NHL Standard Player Contract and for violation of the AHL COVID-19 protocols.”
This makes Kane a free agent free to sign with any team, and he’ll almost certainly come in at a low cap hit on a one-year deal as he tries to get his NHL career back on track.
Rick Dhaliwal of Donnie and Dhali – The Team reported today that Kane’s agent hasn’t yet received a call from the Canucks, but that he plans on calling them sometime today.
“Evander Kane agent Dan Milstein says lots of teams have reached out to him for his UFA client. The Canucks have not yet, but he plans on talking to Vancouver at some point today to gauge interest.”-Rick Dhaliwal
A native of Vancouver, Kane was suspended by the NHL for 21 games earlier this season after he produced a fake vaccination card in an attempt to skirt the league’s rules. Following his suspension, Kane was assigned to the AHL’s San Jose Barracuda playing games solely in California. In five games, he scored two goals and tallied eight points.
Kane has yet to play an NHL game this season.
