Vancouver Canucks draft center Dmitry Zlodeyev in round six, defenceman Viktor Persson in round seven

The Vancouver Canucks have used their final two picks of the draft to select a center and a defenceman.

In round six, they drafted Russian center Dmitri Zlodeyev while in round seven, they took Swedish defenceman Viktor Persson.

Zlodeyev stands at 5’11, 183 lbs. and played last year for MHK Dynamo Moskva in the MHL where he scored 12 goals and 28 points in 42 games. So far this season, he has split time between Dynamo Krasnogorsk of the VHL, where he has scored three goals in five games, and MHK in the MHL where he’s scored two goals and five points in seven games.

Persson, meanwhile played last year for Brynäs IF J20 where he scored five goals and 18 points in 26 games. The WHL’s Kamloops Blazers, who drafted him in the CHL Import Draft, signed Persson in July. He is expected to play there this year.

“We believe he has all the qualities we look for in Kamloops Blazers defenseman,” said Blazers GM Matt Bardsley. “His mobility, vision, puck skills and compete level will be a nice addition to our defense and we look forward to helping him maximize his development,” concluded Bardsley.
