Comets Sign Dylan Blujus

The Utica Comets roster continues to take shape for the 2019/20 season as the team announced today that they are bringing right-shot defenceman Dylan Blujus back on another one-year AHL deal.
The 25-year-old Blujus was selected in the second round of the 2012 NHL draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning. The six-foot-three-inch, 203-pound defender has spent the last two seasons with the Comets, getting into 88 games and putting up five goals and 19 helpers to give himself 24 points to go along with 65 minutes in penalties.
Blujus has proven to be a solid contributor to the Comets on the defensive side of things. He has been effective on the penalty kill and has shown a propensity for blocking shots. The latter will be welcome with the retirement of shot-blocking machine Jaime Sifers.
The Comets now have Jalen Chatfield, Mitch Eliot, and Blujus as righties on the backend with Brogan Rafferty expected to get a new deal with the Canucks as well. Some combination of Olli Juolevi, Guillaume Brisebois, Ashton Sautner, and Josh Teves, (expected to be re-signed by Vancouver) will likely make up the left side. I can see the Comets signing Stefan LeBlanc and Aaron Thow as well for the left side.
With this signing, the Comets now have Blujus,  Wacey Hamilton, Carter Bancks, Seamus Malone, and Vincent Arseneau under contract on AHL deals for the upcoming season and we can expect to see a few more players added to that list before training camp rolls around.
Stay tuned for any and all Utica Comets player movement during the offseason.
