Comets Re-Sign LeBlanc

After announcing earlier today that they have re-signed defenceman Dylan Blujus, the Utica Comets have announced that they will also be bringing fellow defender Stefan LeBlanc back for another season.
LeBlanc, a 23-year-old native of Oakville Ontario, was acquired in a mid-season trade with the Toronto Marlies in a swap of AHL contracts with the Comets sending utility forward Tanner MacMaster the other way.
The un-drafted, six-foot, 185-pound left-shot rearguard has played in 98 AHL contests split between the Laval Rocket, the Marlies and the Comets. In those 98 games, LeBlanc has totalled two goals and 21 helpers, giving him 23 points to go along with 38 penalty minutes.
He has also played in 26 ECHL games, all with the current ECHL champion Newfoundland Growlers, where he picked up three goals and 12 assists, giving him 15 points to go along with 16 minutes in the box.
In 25 games after his trade to Utica, LeBlanc managed to chip in with six assists while also taking on some significant minutes on the penalty kill.
I like this signing for the Comets as I believe LeBlanc gives the team a legitimate upgrade on the depth that they came into last season with on the backend. This signing gives the Comets a potential left side of Olli Juolevi, Guillaume Brisebois, Josh Teves, (once he is re-signed) and LeBlanc. I expect fellow lefty Ashton Sautner to start the season in Vancouver. If the Comets do as I expect and add Arron Thow to that mix, the left side should be pretty strong for the team in the 2019/20 season.
Stay tuned as we will keep you up to date on the Comets roster moves as they happen throughout the offseason.
