The Canucks and Tom Sestito have officially parted ways

The Tom “top-sixsito” Sestito era of Vancouver Canucks hockey is over. Where will the moral victories come from now?
On Monday, the Canucks announced that Sestito will no longer be on the Utica Comets’ roster. The club will look to facilitate a trade for the designated enforcer, who has already cleared waivers this season.
From the Utica Comets’ Press Release on the matter:
The Vancouver Canucks and Utica Comets jointly announced today that forward Tom Sestito will not play for either club for the remainder of this season.Sestito will workout on his own and will continue to receive his salary while the Canucks work to identify a new club where he can continue his career.The Canucks and Comets thank Tom for his contributions and wish him luck in the future.
Sestito originally joined the Canucks shortly after the Aaron Volpatti waiver error during the lockout abbreviated 2013 season. He had a career year with the John Tortorella Canucks during the 2013-14 season, scoring a career high five goals and appearing in a career high 77 games with that difficult to watch iteration of the club.
Whether the Canucks can facilitate some sort of trade remains to be seen. Unless they’re taking back an expensive American Hockey League contract in return, it seems unlikely that a player of Sestito’s ilk will generate any interest on the trade market.
A tough year for NHL enforcers continues…
