Thatcher Demko can play football, apparently (and also hockey)

This summer, we ranked the 19-year-old Thatcher Demko as the 12th best prospect in the Canucks organization, and potentially the future hope for the team between the pipes. As it turns out, however, he has talent beyond hockey, as evidenced by this clip that Boston College Hockey News tweeted the other day.
If this goalie thing doesn’t work out for Thatcher Demko, he might be okay elsewhere. Quick 40-yarder. Barefoot. pic.twitter.com/YaYGkYpPTd

Forty yards. Barefoot. Straight down the middle. I guess once the inevitable goaltending controversy happens between him and whoever the Canucks acquire next, they can drive him down the street to the BC Lions rather than making a dramatic trade to whatever team seems least likely to make them suffer.

We probably won’t have to worry about him switching sports, however. If the start of this season is of any indication, he’s only gotten better since finally recovering in full from his long-term hip ailments. Demko stopped 23 of 24 shots in BC’s season opener, and 26 of 28 today. That’s a 0.942 save percentage, for those wondering.
