Tonight marks the second and final meeting of the season between the Detroit Red Wings and the Vancouver Canucks, and we’ve asked writers from both WingsNation and CanucksArmy to get you set for tonight’s matchup. We’ve also put together a few notes to get you ready for the final time these two teams will meet this year.

Today’s Meeting:
With both the Red Wings and Canucks playing out the string, pride comes into play as both franchises look to finish the season on a high note. While neither side has been eliminated from playoff contention just yet, it will take an impressive run for either side to get themselves back into contention. Could such a run be started with a win tonight? We shall see.

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING
Why is your team going to win or why will your enemy lose?
WingsNation:
Our team is mumpless and therefore likely to win. We could really use a win too so this mumps news comes at a good time.
J.D. Burke (CanucksArmy):
Against all the odds, a mumps-depleted Canucks roster gave the San Jose Sharks just about all they could handle for the most of their game Saturday, a 4-1 loss. Tonight they make good on that effort and get back into the win column.
Who’s hot? Who’s not?
WingsNation:
I don’t know if you looked at our Top 10 goals of the season but a good chunk of them came from Andreas Athanasiou. The kid is a human highlight reel.
J.D. Burke:
Are we talking has a fever hot or scoring frequently hot? The Canucks have a tonne of the former of those two. In terms of the goal-scoring bit, maybe less so. I mean, Bo Horvat’s great. That counts for something?
Why should people watch this game?
WingsNation:
What else are you going to do? Pogs?
J.D. Burke:
The Canucks are a younger team today than they were yesterday. That’s sort of exciting, right?
Say something nice about your opponent.
WingsNation:
Swollen cheeks look best at sea side.
J.D. Burke:
People think the Canucks are in denial about the state of their franchise? Vancouver can’t even hold a candle to Detroit in this regard.
Any last words?
WingsNation:
Don’t even THINK about taking a drink from our water bottle.
J.D. Burke:
Want to share a drink after the game?
