Found a tumblr today called "Edler Wand" (by way of Sealcat).
Here’s a choice pick from their series of 23 photos of the Canucks blue-liner.
On this particular Tuesday in mid-June we chewed over the possibility of an offseason mega deal between the Vancouver Canucks and Philadelphia Flyers, reacted to Canucks goalie coach Rollie Melanson’s rather explosive interview in a small New Brunswick daily, and used Keith Ballard’s current contract situation as a point of departure with which to discuss Retained Salary Transactions and Compliance Buyouts.
More Canucks news, most of it about John Tortorella, after the jump.
Harrison Mooney rejects the notion that the Canucks are dragging their feet with their extended search for a head coach. [Pass it to Bulis]
Jason Botchford wrote about Rollie Melanson’s baffling interview in the New Brunswick press, and to my dismay picked up on a rounding error I made in my Melanson post earlier in the day… [The Province]
Cory Schneider appeared on the Team 1040 today and talked about the American goalie depth chart headed into Sochi, his experience with the competition committee last week in Toronto and the prospect of John Tortorella coaching him in Vancouver. For Schneider’s Sochi chances, by the way, I think he really needed a monster playoff run to realistically propel him into the conversation with Jimmy Howard and Jonathan Quick. For the Canucks, and for Cory Schneider’s Olympic hopes – that late season groin injury couldn’t have come at a worse time.  [The Team 1040]
Had you heard that John Tortorella was in town and that he interviewed with Mike Gillis on Tuesday? Oh you had? Well did you know that our very own Dimitri Filipovic was the first to break the story? Because he did. His reaction:
So is Tortorella a realistic candidate for the Canucks head coaching vacancy? Ben Kuzma sure seems to think so. [The Province]
Does Dale Weise think Tortorella makes sense for the Canucks? I’d say he seems unconvinced. [The Province]
Sean Gentille looked at the pros and cons of Tortorella coaching in Vancouver. Pro: Tortorella is tactically solid, and a win now bench boss with championship pedigree. Con: he hates relying on young players even more than Vigneault did. [The Sporting News]
On Monday, as the controversial Tortorella was interviewing at Rogers Arena for the chance to succeed Alain Vigneault behind the Canucks bench, the former Canucks coach was wined and dined by Tortorella’s former employers at Glen Sather’s compound in La Quinta. Hopefully Vigneault stops in at Shields’ and gets a tour of the old date farm! Oh, also, Larry Brooks on zone starts is hilarious. [NY Post]
It was revealed today, also, that Jacque Martin interviewed with the Canucks last week. I’ve always admired how Martin’s clubs dominate in transition, utilizing crisp, set breakouts through the neutral zone. Imagine him as an assistant scheming up ways to help the likes of Jordan Schroeder, Alex Edler, Jannik Hansen, Ryan Kesler and the Sedin twins enter the offensive zone with speed… [NBC Sports]
Here’s a hall of fame tweet:
Finally if you haven’t done so already, consider submitting a T-shirt design to our "CanucksArmy Gear T-Shirt Design Contest." All submissions must be sent to me at Thom.Drance@gmail.com by Friday, so make sure to get your design in soon!
We’re going to do a run of 100 T-Shirts with the winning design on them, and if your design is chosen by our readers you’ll get the first five for free!
As you can probably tell if you’re a regular reader, we work long hours to keep this blog updated with the frequency and quality you’ve come to expect from CanucksArmy.com. But the hockey blogging game is a tough slog professionally and we’ll admit it, in part we’re hoping to eventually open up a new revenue stream with "Canucks Army Gear."
Our readers are some of the smartest, most loyal and most dedicated in all of hockey blogdom. We don’t do it enough but we’re extremely grateful to all of you for reading the site, for commenting (even to point out when we’re totally wrong) and for supporting us. Without you guys and gals, the name of our blog would be an empty boast.
We view these T-Shirts as an opportunity to give our readers something tangible from the site. Something that you can own outright. We also hope that you’ll see Canucks Gear as your opportunity to support the hard work we do (plus these t-shirts are going to be seriously fucking awesome).
Anyway, you have my word that these T-Shirts will be exceedingly affordable and that a sizable portion of the revenue we generate will be donated to charity. We’ll have exact details by the time we’re ready to unveil the design later this month! CLICK HERE FOR FULL CONTEST DETAILS.
