This week, we’re talking about the Canucks as they languish in a five-game losing streak and a three-game goalless streak after back-to-back-to-back shutout losses in Arizona, Los Angeles and Anaheim. Things are getting ugly, again, and CanucksArmy’s J.D. Burke and TSN’s Jon Abbott are there to break it all down. Are there any solutions? Any reasons to expect things to turn around? It’s bleak. The absence of Brock Boeser hangs over this team, and they can’t seem to escape its shadow.
In the second segment of the show, CanucksArmy’s own Sie Morley joins the show to talk about, of all teams, the San Jose Sharks, who she covers as the Managing Editor of Fear the Fin. The Sharks are rolling and appear poised to make some noise in the playoffs. Morley offers her opinion of where the Sharks stand and provides insight on their probable match with the Los Angeles Kings. Lastly, Burke and Abbott talk to Morley about her excellent article on what it’s like to cover a Sharks team that’s acquired Evander Kane in light of all the baggage that he brings to the team.
In the second hour of the show, Abbott and Burke talk about the Sedins and how that situation is going to play out. Will they return? That’s going to be a huge storyline to come out of this season. They take some callers who offer a range of opinions on the topic and touch on some listener feedback via text and email, too.
Next up, the topic of Erik Gudbranson’s season-ending shoulder surgery, and the Canucks decision to re-sign him with knowledge of this injury, is broached. As one might imagine, Burke cannot, for the life of him, fathom how the Canucks gave $12-million and three years to Gudbranson with this information at their disposal.
There are more questions than answers with the Canucks right now, and it makes for an interesting time covering this team. You’ll just have to listen to the rest of the show for all the gory details!
