KHL free agent Andrei Kuzmenko’s agent had some very nice things to say about the Vancouver Canucks

When Patrik Allvin was hired as Vancouver Canucks GM, he said he hoped to sign some European and NCAA free agents to the club, and on Friday, he interviewed the biggest European free agent out there.

The Canucks held an interview with highly sought-after KHL forward Andrei Kuzmenko on Friday.

Kuzmenko’s agent Dan Milstein joined Chris Faber and I on the latest episode of the Canucks Conversation Podcast to talk about Kuzmenko, and his client Danila Klimovich, who is the Canucks’ top forward prospect.

“Vancouver is definitely on the list,” said Milstein. “We’ve been talking to Vancovuer executives for a very long time. It’s a great city, good place to play, a good team, good coach, and stable management. Vancouver should be excited for many years on what’s to come.”

Milstein added that Canucks GM Patrik Allvin watched Kuzmenko play nine years ago and has kept tabs on him ever since.

“I expect him to be a top six forward, he can play on the power play,” said Milstein. “He’s very strong, he’s a hard worker, he plays on both sides of the ice and we expect him to make an impact from early on.”

Kuzmenko and Vasily Podkolzin played together as members of SKA St. Petersburg in the KHL before, and it sure sounds like the Canucks are eager to make a reunion happen at the NHL level.

The 26-year-old highly skilled Russian finished second in KHL scoring this past season, with 53 points in 45 games before adding seven goals and seven assists through 16 playoff games.
