We brought you the story earlier in the day and mentioned that we’d be back if Vancouver Canucks 2022 first-round pick Jonathan Lekkerimäki had a good game in his return to the lineup from a foot injury.
The injury had an estimated timeline of eight weeks but because of his hard work in the gym, Lekkerimäki returned in just six weeks and was slotted right into the heart of the lineup for his debut in the Allsvenskan playoffs. He slid into the top line and found early success on the power play.
The 18-year-old winger finished the game with a single shot on net and 16:55 of ice time. He received time on the power play unit and stuck on the first line throughout the game without any demotions.
Lekkerimäki’s team Djurgårdens ended up winning the game by a score of 3-0 and now has a lead in their semifinal series of the same count of 3-0.
We’re happy to see Lekkerimäki back from injury and will continue to follow along with how he performs in the Allsvenskan playoffs. We predicted that there was a chance he would be back for the playoffs but still were surprised to see him slide into the lineup this morning for this semifinal game.
It’s been a tough year for Lekkerimäki and having a strong run in the playoffs would surely be good for his confidence heading into the summer. On top of that, his team is playing extremely well in the playoffs and has the potential to go on a deep run.
We’ll keep you updated on all the latest news about Jonathan Lekkerimäki.
