Alexandre Burrows, lives up to his award tonight. Hailed Vancover’s most exciting player, Alex broke new ground for the Canucks tonight. The Vancouver Canucks, I repeat the Vancouver Canucks, have swept a series in the first round of the 2009 Stanley Cup playoffs.
Tonight’s game looked no different than any of the other games in this series. The Blues were good, the Canucks were better. Wellwood scored an outstanding goal to start it off. Burrows added a second tally. By the middle of the second, the Blues were looking like roadkill on the Canucks road to the cup.
All of a sudden, Boyes buries one. His goal, was a shot of adrenaline to the hearts of the Blues and their fans. For the remainder of the game, the Canucks had themselves a hockey game. Perron, tied it up and shortly after Luongo was slightly injured on a called back goal.
It looked as if the Canucks were against the ropes. After a hard fought third, the Canucks and Blues went into sudden death overtime. Fortunately, the fox news calibre of fair and balanced referee’s slapped a two minute penalty on Daniel. Shortly after four minute penalty on Kesler. The serial killing PK squad managed to survive.
After a failed powerplay, the game was leaning towards double overtime. Then, unexpectedly, Burrows buries ANOTHER goal with 19 seconds left. The Canucks bench erupted, Vingeault looked like a kid who just got a powerwheels for christmas (god I hated that kid).
Mike Gillis you can relax, you’ve done well. Gillis should have a 10 day break from stress eating as the Canucks get to sit back relax and wait for round two.
*The Vancouver Giants also won tonight, taking a 2-1 series lead over the Kelowna Rockets
