Hurricanes at Canucks | OddsShark Matchup Report
The Canucks had their two-game winning streak snapped in Tuesday’s 4-1 loss to the Maple Leafs. John Tavares had gone three straight games without a point, but he erupted for two goals and an assist in Vancouver. In 12 games played in the month of October, the Canucks ranked fourth in the NHL in goals-against average at 2.42; since then, they’ve seen their GAA jump up to 3.42 in their last 19 games. Vancouver has shown flashes of brilliance at both ends of the ice this year, but the lack of consistency in recent months has been frustrating.
Through their first 14 home games in 2019-20, the Canucks are 7-4-3 per the OddsShark NHL Database.
Carolina extended its current winning streak to three games with a 6-3 victory on the road against the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday night. The Hurricanes are now 10-4 over their last 14 games and 19-11-1 on the season. Andrei Svechnikov is having a breakout season for the Hurricanes; after putting up 20 goals and 17 assists in 82 games in his rookie year last year, Svechnikov already has 13 goals and 21 assists through Carolina’s first 31 games in 2019-20. Overall, the Hurricanes rank in the top 10 this season in both goals for (3.26) and goals against (2.74) per game.
Thursday night’s total is set at six goals at betting sites. The UNDER is 5-1 in Carolina’s last six games on the road.
The Hurricanes are a perfect 3-0 straight up and on the puckline in their last three games against the Canucks, winning each of those three games by at least two goals. This will be a tough test for Vancouver, and it should be a good game if the Canucks bring their best effort.
