Henrik Sedin Leaves Game With Lower Body Injury

The Vancouver Canucks still have a period to come back against the Philadelphia Flyers tonight, but they’ll have to do it without Henrik Sedin. The Canucks have confirmed that their Captain will not return after suffering a lower-body injury early in the second period.

Nobody’s quite sure when the injury was suffered. During the second intermission, the Sportsnet panel believed that it was on this hit against during his last shift:

It’s hard to say whether that was what caused it; you can see his right leg decelerate faster than his left, and he leads into the boards with his hip. Henrik had a recent maintenance day, so it’s possible that he re-aggravated an existing ailment.
Henrik has 31 points over 33 games; trailing only his brother Daniel, and having only three points fewer than third and fourth place (Alex Edler and Jannik Hansen) combined. Losing Henrik would be a huge blow to an already struggling Canucks roster, who haven’t been without their Captain since a knee ailment took him out of the lineup for four games in April 2014.
