Cliff Ronning (along with Jeff Brown and Jyrki Lumme) was my favorite player growing up.
It’s also his birthday today. Happy 42nd birthday Cliff!
Headshots are a Canucks Army feature where we link to the day’s freshest news, and other assorted Canucks web-goodies. If you’re written a blogpost, produced a tribute video, birthed a clever .gif into existence, or have a hockey related cause you’d like to see promoted in this space – please e-mail Thom at thom.drance@gmail.com.
Nucksmisconduct has a quick news blast with links to the roster of players who will dress for the Chicago Wolves’ first preseason game tonight.
In classic Pass it to Bulis fashion, a fun post about basically nothing.
Speaking of posts about nothing, or to be more precise "fake nothing," you can go vote on who should be in the lineup for the Vancouver Canucks as the Legion of Blog’s fake season roles along.

The Vancouver Canucks Twitter account has unveiled the team’s "Official October Wall Paper." Lockout note, all of the October games have been scrubbed, even though no regular season games have been cancelled yet…
Ben Kuzma gets some choice Gilis quotes on what the Canucks’ General Manager is looking for from the likes of Zack Kassian, Jordan Schroeder and Chris Tanev in Chicago this month.
Former Vancouver Giant Cody Franson signs with Swedish Elite League team Brynas. He’d be the second NHLer to play in that league, though he hasn’t signed a "short-term deal" (his contract does have an "out" however, according to James Mirtle) and he’s not currently under contract with an NHL club. I’ll be curious to see how this one plays out.
Finally, Ryan Kesler isn’t locked out because of his nagging injuries. For once he appears to be milking it, rather than rushing back to play, which is good:
