Elias Pettersson wins the Calder Trophy!

For the first time since Pavel Bure won in 1991-92, a Vancouver Canuck has been named the NHL Rookie of the Year as Swedish forward Elias Petterson was awarded the prestigious award this evening.
Pettersson was the favourite to win the award but that doesn’t matter until the actual event and awards are handed out.
Canucks fans were dazzled this season by the hands and skill of Elias Pettersson and were just counting down the days until he received the award.
Pettersson appeared in 71 games for the Canucks this season amassing 28 goals and 38 assists along the way. He represented the Canucks at the All-Star Game in San Jose and was named the NHL Rookie of the Month for October and December.
This follows last season where he won basically every single possible thing he could in Sweden.
As per Exhibit 5, article iv in the NHL CBA, Pettersson has earned a bonus of $212,500 for winning the Calder. That is on top of him maxing out the Schedule A bonuses within his contract.
It was a fantastic season for the Canucks first line centre and has fans dreaming of what he can next season. He is hungry to be more consistent throughout the season and with the Canucks looking to make some additions this summer, Pettersson could take another step next season.
