On Monday morning, Elias Pettersson was named the NHL’s first star of the week on the back of a strong offensive performance is which he potted three goals and picked up six assists in four games, including three multi-point games and a very successful California road trip.
The Canucks’ early success comes from solid goaltending, depth players and of course the stellar play of the Lotto Line. The only part of Elias Pettersson’s game that is struggling is his sophomore slump. Pettersson has been on a tear ever since the Canucks began their winning ways after a two-game slump to start the year.
After no points in the first two games of the season, Pettersson has kept up with the leading scorers in the NHL. Since the Canucks’ home opener against the LA Kings, Pettersson has 20 points in 12 games. Elias Pettersson is just beginning to heat up and with this recent honour of being named player of the week, it feels like this won’t be the last time Pettersson as the league’s best player.
It’s no secret to Canucks fans that the first scoring line of JT Miller, Elias Pettersson and Brock Boeser have been one of the best lines in the league but even with the honours of player of the week going to Pettersson they were still shown no love when it came to a BarDown tweet asking about who has been the best line in the show.
When talking about the Lotto Line, Canucks fans were quick to reply on Twitter with the mentality we’ve come to expect from a #TeamLikeThat.

The Canucks Lotto Line may be in the shadows for now, but if Elias Pettersson continues to climb the leading scorers’ race, it won’t be long until the entire league is talking about the west coast success.
For now, Elias Pettersson should be more than satisfied with his own and his team’s performance this week. Averaging more than two points a game is very impressive and if he is able to continue his dominance, the Vancouver Canucks will be talked about more and more as being part of the playoff conversation.
Here is Pettersson’s reaction when asked about being named first star of the week:
