Another month and another Rookie of the Month win for Elias Pettersson
As mentioned in the above tweet, Pettersson posted six goals and eleven assists in fourteen games with the Canucks. Pettersson won the same award for the month of October, so he is 2/3 so far this season.
Pettersson continues to dazzle Canucks fans with his shot, playmaking ability, and even his defensive play. Every time he steps onto the ice, you can feel the anticipation of what may happen. It’s exciting times to be a Canucks fan and Pettersson is the main reason for that.
Pettersson posted a five-point performance on December 9th against St Louis, which was the second time he has done that this season and became the sixth rookie to have two five-point games in one season since 1967.
Lastly, Pettersson had points in ten of the fourteen games this month and had a seven-game point streak wedged in there too.
Prior to action tonight, Pettersson has a fourteen point lead on the second place Colin White in NHL rookie scoring.
It’s only a matter of time before Pettersson is named to the NHL All-Star team and then after that, it’s the case for the Calder Trophy as the NHL Rookie of the Year. I think it’s fair to suggest that winning the Rookie of the Month two out of three months thus far gives him the favourite status to take that home.
