The Sedin Twins are heading to Vegas this June as they have been named finalists for the King Clancy Memorial Trophy
The award is given to the player(s) who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and who has made a significant humanitarian contribution to his community.
The two other finalists have done a lot for their respective communities.
Jason Zucker started the #Give16 campaign in Minnesota that saw him donate $160,000 to kickstart the program that aims to raise funds for the Zucker Family Suite and Broadcast Studio at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis. You can read more about the effort that he and his wife, Carly, have done here.
P.K. Subban continues to raise funds for Montreal Children’s Hospital and Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital in Quebec and started the P.K. Blueline Buddies in Nashville. Like Zucker, you can read more about his nomination here.
Both of those players have done fantastic things for their local communities and worthy finalists for a trophy that does a great job of highlighting players throughout the league that do more than just what we see on the ice.
From a local perspective, it would be fantastic to see the Sedin twins end their NHL career with this award for everything that they have done in the city of Vancouver over the course of their careers.
Henrik Sedin previously won the King Clancy Trophy in 2015-16 and Trevor Linden won it back in 1996-97.
