Comets Release Cliff Watson From PTO.
By Cory Hergott
6 years agoIt looks as though the Utica Comets have released defenseman turned forward Cliff Watson from his PTO and returned him to the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL.
While I was tucked away sleeping, Ben Birnell of the Utica Observer-Dispatch was scouring the AHL transactions page and unearthed the Watson move.
Watson had appeared in six games for the Comets and not all of them at his natural position of defence. He also spent some time as a winger while in Utica. Watson earned one assist during his time with the Comets.
In 21 games this season with Utah, Watson has six goals and eight assists, good for 14 points and good enough to earn him a spot in the ECHL All-Star Game.
With the Comets getting Boucher back from Vancouver, and now having a reasonably healthy blue-line, the move makes sense.
The Comets are back in action on Tuesday in Laval at 4:30 pm Pacific. CanucksArmy will have your post-game report following the game.
