The 13-8-1-2 Utica Comets road trip continues to Bridgeport today to tangle with the 9-13-3-1 Tigers, (New York Islanders affiliate) at 7:00 pm Eastern/4:00 pm Pacific for game number 25 of the season. The Comets are coming off of a 3-2 shootout loss to Providence, while Bridgeport last played to a 5-2 loss to Syracuse.
Utica shows a record of 4-3-1-2 over their previous 10 contests, while Bridgeport has gone 5-4-1-0 over that same span. The Comets have gone 7-3-0-1 on the road this season. The Sound Tigers, for their part, have a record of 5-5-1-1 at home.
The Comets have outscored their opponents by a margin of 83-69 this season, while the Tigers have been outscored by a count of 84-54 this year.
Utica’s power play isn’t the issue that it used to be as they have gone 21/92 to give themselves a success rate of 22.8% with the extra man, while their penalty kill has given up 14 goals while down a man 106 times for an 86.8% success rate.
The Sound Tigers, for their part, have gone 9/106 with the extra man to give themselves an 8.5% success rate, while their penalty kill has allowed 16 goals while short a man 104 times for an 84.6% success rate.
Matt Lorito leads all Bridgeport scorers with seven goals and eight helpers to give himself 15 points in 25 games, while Sebastian Aho sits second with two goals and 13 assists, giving him 15 points in 26 games. Travis St. Denis rounds out their top three with three goals and seven assists, giving him 10 points in 24 games.
Arnaud Durandeau is the top rookie in Bridgeport with five goals and one assist to give himself six points in 15 games this season. Brogan Rafferty is the top dog amongst Comets rookies with two goals and 14 assists, giving him 16 points in 24 games.
Reid Boucher leads all Utica scorers with 17 goals and 10 assists to give himself 27 points in 19 games this season. Nikolay Goldobin sits second with eight goals and 12 assists, giving him 20 points in 18 games, while Kole Lind rounds out their top three with four goals and 13 assists to give himself 17 points in 24 games.
Season Series
This is the second of three games in a week between these two clubs. Bridgeport took the first contest with a 5-4 overtime win.
Sven Baertschi, Carter Camper, Matt Lorito, Sebastian Aho, and Mason Jobst all picked up a pair of points in the first game, while 10 others picked up one.
Jared Coreau earned the win for Bridgeport while posting a goals-against-average of 3.69 along with a 0.871% save percentage. Zane McIntyre took the loss for Utica while putting up a 3.70 GAA and a 0.900% save percentage.
Utica went 1/6 with the man advantage in the first game between the clubs while shutting down all six Bridgeport power plays.
