THE INTRO
Now, this isn’t an important game that we’ll track stats for, it isn’t a game that will determine placing for the actual playoffs, nor is it going to determine if Quinn Hughes wins the Calder trophy, but it’s the first meaningful Canucks game in what seems like a century. Vancouver takes on the Jets in a one-off exhibition match before both teams play for real this weekend in the Play-in series.
There has been a lot of talk about the bottom-six for the Canucks as well as the sixth defenseman spot so expect to see Zack MacEwen, Jake Virtanen, and Micheal Ferland with their A-games.
All in all, hockey is back and there’s just one more question to ask…
Who is going to be the Canucks Pickleball Champion after this is all over?

VANCOUVER: Jacob Markstrom is expected to start and head coach Travis Green suggested that Thatcher Demko may see some time as well, I’d expect that to come in the third period, depending on the state of the game.
Micheal Ferland is expected to play with Antoine Roussel and Adam Gaudette.
On defence, Dr. Bonnie Henry.
WINNIPEG:
This might be true, it might not be.
PRE-GAME NOTES AND PONDERINGS`
  • The Canucks were spanked by the Jets this season, going 0-2 and getting outscored 8-1. That was a long, long time ago so maybe the Canucks should remember how to score again, for old time’s sake.
  • Jacob Markstrom and Connor Hellebuyck had .918 and .922 Sv%, respectively. Helleybuyck faced over 300 more shots than Markstrom which speaks a bit to Winnipeg’s lackadaisical defence. Again, the slate is clean, so let’s see Markstrom go for 1.000.
  • Quinn Hughes is rested, Quinn Hughes is ready, and Quinn Hughes is looking to make his mark on the 2020 Playoffs. Might he be one of the top players to watch this postseason?
  • Brock Boeser last scored a goal on January 11. In fact, he scored two! If it took less than a game to score his next one, will you be mad?
  • If Adam Gaudette scores, expect the celly to end all cellys.
MY 94 CENTS
I want to see this game exhaust the goal lights. Let’s see a 6-5 slobber knocker. We haven’t seen goals in forever and in an exhibition game, who cares? Go nuts!
Either that, or watching the Canucks walk all over the Jets for three-straight periods.
Brock Boeser is the guy to watch tonight. Bar down might be a common saying going forward.
THE TWITTER TAKE
ONE LAST THING…
With hockey coming back, I’m dangerously close to being caught up on Ozark and Queen of the South on Netflix. It’s a big commitment to get both of those done. I’d appreciate it if the Canucks made quick work of the Wild next week so I can get these all done.
Also, wear a mask.
