Due to a technical error the long weekly report full of analysis of every team has been deleted and I was not able to recover it.  This weeks report will be much shorter, but next week we will be back to our weekly programming.  Follow me @nuckprospects to keep up with the latest in prospect news.

Games

On Saturday night the Comets played an exciting game @ Rochester.  They were down 4-1 but then managed to tie it up at 4-4 with 5 minutes left.  Unfortunately a late goal by Rochester caused them to pull the goalie and the Comets lost 6-4.  Erikkson was in net for this game.
Box Score & Comets Review
Last night the Comets played their first ever home game to a sold out crowd.  GM Mike Gillis was at the game along with other Canucks brass.  The Comets ended up losing this game, full of power plays, 4-1.  Frankie Corrado scored his first goal of the season.  Cannata was in net for this one.
Box Score & Comets Review
So far the Comets have lost all four games and are 15th in the West with 0 points.  They have played the least number of games of any team so far.  They are 3 for 14 on the PP (10th) and 17 for 22 on the PK (22nd).  They have been outscored 8 to 17 (-9) but are outshooting 122 to 100 (22).  That will happen with Score Effects.

Transaction

  • Blain and Pacan were sent to the ECHL (Kalamzoo)
  • Facepuncher David Marshall was acquired on a PTO with the Comets
  • Dalpe was sent to the Comets for a "conditioning stint".  In two games he shows why he has been great at this level but too bad he hasn’t been able to translate that to the NHL.
  • Sauve was recalled to the Canucks which Torts has said is for cap reasons and he will not likely play.

Other

Lain has been quiet on the score sheet but reports are saying he is playing a strong defensive game and he has been more aggressive than last year.  I have learned a way to estimate Quality of Competition in the AHL so when we have more data on this season I will run that and this should show up.
Guimond is surprising as he had a great camp but so far has only played in 1 AHL game this year.  He was a scratch in the other 3 so we will see if he even sticks around or if the camp was just a fluke.
Archibald and Grenier continue to look quite impressive.  Archibald especially.  He has been in two fights so far this year and won both of them handily.
Andersson is also the only player on the Comets to play in the AHL full time last year.

OHL

Cassels continues to look like a great pick at the draft, he has been producing quite well.  Gaunce is rumoured to be traded this season to a team that is a contender.  Here are the stats of the Canuck OHL prospects:

Bo made some Canuck fans angry when he tweeted congratulations to his former teammate Olli Maatta when he scored his first NHL goal, the goal that caused the Penguins to tie it up at the end of the 3rd with the Canucks.  That tweet was quickly deleted.  Subban was also tweeting his BlackBerry PIN, so if you want to BBM him you can find that on his account.
