The Utica Comets are getting their leading scorer back. It was announced today by the Vancouver Canucks that they were sending Boucher back to Utica.
Boucher has played in eight games this season with the Canucks, collecting two goals along the way. In 38 games this season with Utica, Boucher has put up 22 goals and 19 assists to give him 41 points. Those points totals are career highs for Boucher and his 22 goals put him one behind the Comets’ single-season record of 23 set last season by Darren Archibald.
Getting Boucher back will be huge for the Comets, but it is unfortunate for the player. I feel that Boucher has done everything asked of him this season by the Canucks. It would have been nice to see him rewarded with more time. As Boucher will require waivers to come back to Utica if he were to get called up again, I don’t imagine that he will be getting another chance with the big team this season. At least not until after the trade deadline if they happen to clear out a few roster spots up top.
The Comets are back in action today at 4:05 pm Pacific for a road game against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. CanucksArmy will have your post-game report following the game.
