Canucks Recall Reid Boucher From The Comets
By Cory Hergott
6 years agoAccording to Rick Dhaliwal of News 1130, it looks like the Vancouver Canucks have recalled Reid Boucher from the Utica Comets. With Boucher on his way up, both members of the Comets Dynamic Duo will be in Vancouver, along with the other member of the Comets top line, Michael Chaput.
Boucher is the Comets leading scorer, as was Goldobin when he was called up. Boucher has accumulated 13 goals and 12 assists this season to give him 25 points in 25 games. He has been playing in all situations for the Comets and has been wearing an “A” on his jersey in the absence of Wacey Hamilton.
This is the time for Boucher to step up and show the team that the work that he has been putting in this season with Utica has paid off. Boucher has improved his overall game with the Comets and has earned this opportunity. With any kind of luck, he will actually play this time around rather than watching from the press box.
The Comets will be in tough to replace their entire top line, as well as three of their top defensemen coming into the season. With Ashton Sautner also called up to Vancouver, and Evan McEneny out for six months following knee surgery, to go along with AHL veteran Jaime Sifers being out with a broken wrist, the Comets are already using four rookies in key roles.
I would imagine this call-up could mean another PTO signing for Utica, or perhaps they reach back to Kalamazoo for Danny Moynihan again. Or, maybe Jim Benning swings a deal for either the big club or one to help the Comets.
