It’s game day!
Tonight, the Vancouver Canucks will take on the San Jose Sharks on the road after four consecutive days with no game action for the boys in blue.
The Canucks are well rested, and will be getting a familiar face that will certainly be a sight for sore eyes in the form of defenceman Quinn Hughes.
Hughes returned a positive COVID-19 test when trying to cross the border into Canada after the All Star break, and missed the Canucks’ games against the Arizona Coyotes, New York Rangers, and Toronto Maple Leafs.
The Canucks went 2-1 in those games, but Hughes’ absence was certainly noticeable.
The Canucks are also getting Matthew Highmore — who was playing some good hockey before being sidelined by the NHL’s COVID protocols — back tonight vs. San Jose.
One of Kyle Burroughs or Brad Hunt will come out of the lineup to make room for Quinn Hughes’ return.

Projected Lineup

There were no line rushes from morning skate today, but here’s our best guess for what the lineup will look like tonight:
Miller-Horvat-Boeser
Höglander-Pettersson-Podkolzin
Pearson-Dickinson-Garland
Motte-Lammikko-Highmore
OEL-Myers
Hughes-Schenn
Burroughs/Hunt-Hamonic
Puck drop is at 7:30 PM Pacific tonight from the SAP Center in San Jose.
