Canucks at Sharks | OddsShark Matchup Report
The Canucks came out of the NHL All-Star Break with a 3-1 win over the St. Louis Blues, improving to 5-1 over their last six games and to 9-0 over their last nine games at home. Now the real test begins; Vancouver’s next five games all come on the road with San Jose up first followed by three strong Eastern Conference teams in the New York Islanders, Carolina Hurricanes, and Boston Bruins. Vancouver has proven it can beat anyone at home, and a statement road trip could solidify the Canucks as a legitimate Stanley Cup contender out West.
Heading into this road trip, the Canucks are 11-13-1 on the road this season per the OddsShark NHL Database.
With the 27th ranked offense in the league averaging 2.59 goals per game and the 28th ranked defense in the league allowing 3.29 goals per game, the Sharks have the third worst goal differential in the NHL ahead of only the Detroit Red Wings and New Jersey Devils. But despite these numbers, San Jose has still managed to win 22 games across a 22-25-4 campaign and are even above .500 at home with a record of 14-11-1. San Jose is 6-5-1 over its last 12 games with a 4-0-0 record at home over that stretch.
Wednesday night’s total is set at six goals at betting sites. The UNDER is 5-0 in Vancouver’s last five games.
When these two teams met 11 days ago in Vancouver, the Canucks had little trouble dispatching of the Sharks in a 4-1 win. Will the venue change shift things in San Jose’s favor, or can the Canucks finally start playing to their potential on the road?
