The OVER has been the trend to watch for bettors when the Vancouver Canucks take on the Chicago Blackhawks in recent years. Those teams square off in Chicago on Monday, with the Blackhawks favored on the NHL betting lines at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
Chicago is the -180 betting favorite (wager $180 to win $100) for Monday’s contest, with Vancouver the +145 underdog (wager $100 to win $145) and the OVER/UNDER set at six goals. And the OVER has paid out for bettors in each of the last eight games between the Hawks and Canucks dating to November 2016, according to the OddsShark NHL Database.
That includes the most recent meeting between the teams, a 4-3 Chicago victory in overtime as a -140 home betting favorite on February 7. Jonathan Toews had the winner in overtime in that contest, with Alex DeBrincat (with two) and Brandon Saad scoring the team’s other three goals. Alex Biega, Josh Leivo, and Elias Pettersson had the goals for Vancouver on the day.
That victory broke a five-game losing streak for the Blackhawks against the Canucks, with Vancouver topping Chicago 4-2 as +110 home underdogs in the first meeting of the season between the teams on October 31. Vancouver was a perfect 3-0 against Chicago last year.
The Canucks were in Dallas on Sunday night to face the Stars as +175 road underdogs and pulled out a 3-2 shootout victory. Tim Schaller had both goals for Vancouver on Sunday, his first two tallies of the season, while Jacob Markstrom made 44 saves to pick up the victory.
Chicago has won five games in a row heading into Monday night, beating the Canadiens in Montreal 2-0 as +135 underdogs on Saturday night behind a 48-save shutout performance from Corey Crawford. Connor Murphy and Brendan Perlini had the goals in that Chicago win. Despite the hot stretch, though, the Blackhawks remain outside the Western playoff picture.
