Welcome back to another week of Canucks prospects updates!  The major junior leagues have shaken off the early-season cobwebs and hit full stride, while the NCAA schools (except for Yale) has started playing exhibition games. In a scrubbing of SFU, North Dakota easily emerged as victors and boy did first round Brock Boeser look good.
But he’s not the only one how are all of our Canucks performing?

  • Carl Neill had a very up and down week. He played in four games, earning two assists, four penalty minutes, a -10 (thanks to a number of short-handed goals against) and seven shots on goal.
  • Kyle Pettit had a quiet week, going -1 in two games.  He did manage six shots, and unsurprisingly, his shooting percentage has started to regress. With Dylan Strome and Jake Marchment returning, he’s been placed back on the Otters’ third line..
  • Tate Olson had a… week that existed, earning two penalty minutes and a -1 rating in a single game.
  • Dimitri Zhukenov had an exciting week. He played three games, picked up a goal and an assist, sat in the penalty box for eight minutes, had a -6 rating, and took nine shots on goal.
  • Another quiet week Guillaume Brisebois, who is still searching for his first point. He took five shots and was a -1.

    • Lukas Jasek had a very limited week. In his single game, he played just 2:46, though we don’t know if he was hurt or benched. He didnt play in Trinec’s other game of the week.
    • Nikita Tryamkin had a good week playing in three games, earning an assist, two penalty minutes, 11 shots on goal, and playing just shy of twenty minutes a game. He’s gone back up to second-pairing minutes on his team.

      NCAA

      • The University of North Dakota and Brock Boeser had a pre-season game this week against the University of Manitoba, winning 8-3. Boeser scored, was a +3 and took five shots on goal.  UND plays at home vs Lake Superior State and Maine this weekend.  You can check out his goal here.
      • Northeastern and Adam Gaudette romped Simon Fraser University this weekend, blowing them out 10-2. Gaudette scored a goal wit his only shot taken and added an assist, and was a +3.  Northeastern plays on Saturday vs Colgate.
      • Penn State beat Windsor 5-2 last week, but Mike Williamson did not play in the game.  Their next game is Saturday vs Canisius.
      • Yale / Matt Beattie does not play a game until October 30th.
      • Boston College lost a lot of talent this year and lost 2-5 in their exhibition game against the University of New Brunswick. Thatcher Demko was in next for the first period where he stopped all 16 shots. BC plays Army West Point and Rensselaer this week.

      AHL/ECHL

The Comets have returned from France where they faced Syracuse twice (a 1-0 win and a 1-2 OT Loss) and lost 3-5 to, Dragons de Rouen, a French Division 1 team.  Goals were scored by Nicklas Jensen (2), Blair Jones (2) and Dane Fox (1).  Assists were notched by Jordan Subban (2), Andrey Pedan (2), Mike Zalewski (2), Joseph LaBate, Alex Friesen, Cole Cassels, and Anton Cederholm.
ECHL updates will begin soon after Canucks/Comets have assigned the few odd prospects to Kalamazoo. The KWings have started their training camp, inviting old Canucks such as Darren Archibald and Alex Mallet. It’s likely we will see Clay Witt and a few others sent here as the current Comets roster remains at 31 players, with plenty of time left for cuts..
