  • Cole Cassels had a very
dominant week, in 3 games he scored 1 goal and 7 assists, earning a +4 and 6
PIM.  He is now the 4th highest scoring player in the OHL and
    earned himself “CHL
    Player of the Week
    ”.
  • Jordan Subban also had a very
active week; playing in 3 games he scored three goals and three
assists.  Hopefully this is an early sign that he is having a
breakout year similar to his brother PK.  Subban, along with
McCann, has been named to the OHL roster for the Subway Super
    Series.
  • Jared McCann continues to have
success at a comparable level: he’s played 4 games scoring 3 goals and 5
assists, producing a +4 and finding 4 PIM.
  • Miles Liberati had a better
week playing in 2 games, scoring 1 goal and 1 assist to earn a +1. His North Bay Battalion are currently 1st in the OHL and CHL in Shot% through the first and second period (estimating FenClose).
  • It was a quiet week for Evan
McEneny where he played in 1 game and scored 1 assist.
  • Even Kyle Pettit had a
reasonably good week, he played in 3 games and scored 2 goals while earning a
    -3.

Jake VirtanenLW1996-08-1718Calgary00000.0000
  • Jake Virtanen has still not
yet played a game, but he has been cleared to play and should be in Calgary’s
lineup on Friday night!  Virtanen was named to the WHL roster
for the Subway Super Series against Russia’s Junior National Team.
  • Anton Cederholm continues to
have a bad start on his year, while part of it is the bad play in his team,
part of his struggles is tied in his own skill (or lack
    thereof).  He’s played 3 games this week, earning a -1 and 6
PIM.  The Winterhawks are currently a -24 in goal
differential on the year in 13 games, and have allowed a WHL-high 463 shots on goal.  Cederholm was named an
    alternate captain to the Winterhawks.
  • MacKenzie Stewart makes you
continue to question his selection: in 4 games this week he earned 1 assist while
    going -2 with 5 PIM.

  • Kalamazoo has had a strong
start to their year starting 2-1 with a lot of goals.
They’ve lost 2-6 to Elmira, then beat them 6-2 following up with a 5-4 OT win
    against Indy.
  • Ludwig Blomstrand has been an
offensive monster earning 3 goals and 2 assists in 3 games played.
Not being invited to the Canucks or Comets camp, combined with being eliminated
from the Canucks Army Top 20 Prospects has clearly fuelled his
    hate-fire.
  • Comets prospect Curtis Valk
has put up 1 goal and 3 assists in 3 games.
  • Dane Fox has 2 goals and 1
assist to his name in 3 games.
  • Alex Mallet has 1 goal and 1 assist
in 3 games, and leads all Canucks prospects with 8 SOG in those
    games.
