We are back with this week’s Canucks Army prospect report, where we look at all the activities
of Canucks prospects outside of the AHL and their teams.  Most players have been busy this week in the
OHL and WHL, while the NCAA is just starting up (except for the Ivy League
schools).  Europe has been well underway
since September and the ECHL has begun its regular season.

  • Jared McCann has started his yearly
explosively scoring 2 goals and 3 assists in his first three games.  That’s the kind of offence that the Soo’s ex-GM Kyle Dubas was talking about.
  • Jordan Subban played in 2 OHL games
this week scoring a single assist and earning a -1.
  • Cole Cassels had a very active week,
scoring 1 goal and 4 assists in 3 games, earning a +2 and 13 PIM.  He was the acting Captain for the Oshawa
Generals and has been playing without top talent such as Michael Dal Colle – a positive sign if
    he can sustain this scoring.
  • Evan McEneny continues his slow start to
his OA year.  In the previous 3 games he
has scored 1 assist while going -2 with 4 PIM
  • Liberati continues on a similar
path; in the last three games he has scored 1 assist, earning a +1 with 2 PIM.
  • Kyle Petit continues to have
difficulty earning time to play as a 4th line centre in the
OHL.  He’s played 2 games this week and
that’s all we can credit to his name.

  • Jake Virtanen has not yet played a
game as he is still out with his shoulder injury but signs are pointing towards
Virtanen playing soon.  Jeff Paterson reports that he could be cleared for contact by doctors today.
  • Anton Cederholm continues to
struggle in Portland.  In the past week
he has played in 2 games, earned a -1 and 2 PIM.
  • Similarly MacKenze Stewart has
played in 2 games earning a -2 and 4 PIM.

games he has notched 5 SOG and earned a -2.
  • University of Wisconsin played two
games against Alaska Fairbanks losing 0-1 and 2-4.  LaBate played in both games earning a total
    of a -1, 7 SOG and 10 PIM.
  • Boston College played UMass-Lowell
losing 2-5 with Demko in net. He made 19 of 23 saves leaving him with a
Sv% on the year of .826.
  • Penn State played 2 games against
UConn drawing the first 2-2 and winning the second 7-1.  Mike
Williamson did not play in either game.

  • Nikita Tryamkin has played 3 games
this week earning 1 SOG, a +1, and 2 PIM.
He’s averaging 16:22 TOI per game.
  • Gustav Forsling has played 2 games
in the SHL this week earning 2 PIM.  His
ice time is up to 18:00 a game which has been increasing – a good sign for an
18 year old in an adult league (Thanks to reader Johan for pointing out these stats in
    the previous week’s comments).

  • Curtis Valk is technically not a
Canucks’ prospect; however he was signed to a Utica Comets Standard Player
Contract which is rare for players to earn.
It was decided to send him to the ECHL where he can earn prime ice rather
than battle for 3rd or 4th line starts in the AHL.  He is currently 4th on the team in
points and tied for third in shots.  He
    has 2 goals in 2 games with a +2, 4 PIM and 7 SOG.
  • Alex Mallet is 5th on the
K-Wings in scoring with 1 goal and 1 assist in 2 games over 2 shots.  He has 0 PIM and a -2.
  • While luck hasn’t turned around for
him yet, Dane Fox has 6 SOG but only 1 assist to his name in 3 games.  He has a +3 and 0 PIM.
  • Ludwig Blomstrand is still Canuck property for two more years despite not even being invited to the Comets camp.  He played in 3 preseason games in the ECHL
but no regular season games.  He had 0
    points, a +2, 2 PIM and 8 SOG.
  • Joe Cannata has not yet played a
game nor was he in the Reign’s lineup this week.  I wonder if he got lost and showed up in Canada instead of California.
