Another week has gone by, and as such, prospects of the Vancouver Canucks have gotten a few more games in. Almost everybody has begun their season, with just one NCAA prospect left to make his meaningful game debut, and the few prospects the team has in the ECHL.
Without keeping you too long, let’s dig into the past week!

  • Tate Olson continues off the good start to his year, picking up 4 assists in 2 games as well as having a +1 and 2 penalty minutes.
  • Dmitry Zhukenov performed similarly, notching 4 assists in 2 games as well as 3 shots on goal.
  • Carl Neill is having a great start to his season, with 2 more goals in the past 3 games, along with 1 assist, 6 penalty minutes, a +2 rating and 8 more shots on goal.  His first goal was scored on the powerplay and can be seen here (h/t Jeremy Davis)
  • Kyle Pettit’s scoring has cooled off this week, but he still took 3 shots and had a +1 rading in 2 games. Erie is currently the top ranked CHL team.
  • Guillaume Brisebois continues his season without a point. He is currently 8 games into the season (4 more this week), and this week, he was a -2 and had 8 shots on goal. He was also named to the QMJHL roster for the CHL Canada/Russia series (formerly known as the Subway Series).
  • While not technically a Canuck prospect, camp invite and draft interests Rodrigo Abols has 2 goals and 4 assists through 6 games to start the year while Jackson Whistle currently posts a .909 save percentage, which is just above League Average.

  • Никита Трямкин skated in two KHL games this week scoring a single assist. He finished with a -1, took 2 shots on goal, and played just over 17 minutes of ice time per game.
  • Lucas Jasek continues to have a sputtering start to his year. He played 2 games in the senior Czech league this week where he averaged 5:01 a game and was a -1. He did not play in Wednesday’s game as he was demoted to the Tier 2 senior league where he has 1 goal in 1 game. This was the second time this season he was demoted; previously he went back to the Czech Junior league, where he has 2 points in 2 games.

  • This past week the University of North Dakota won 5-2 over Lake Superior State, and tied 1-1 with Maine. Brock Boeser skated in both games but had points in neither. He does, however, lead UND with 11 shots on goal.
  • Northeastern played Colgate this week, winning 2-1. Adam Gaudette had no points, but took 5 shots on goal. I am in Boston this week and will try and go to the Northeastern game to do some scouting of Gaudette.
  • Penn State beat Canisius 6-1. Mike Williamson played his first game of the year, earning 2 PIMs and 3 shots on goal.
  • Yale has not yet played a game, their first will be on October 30th.

  • Thatcher Demko played in 2 Boston College games this past week stopping 49 of 52 shots. His .942 save percentage to start the year has him ranked as 13th in the NCAA which I see continuing to rise all season. He can also apparently play football.

With Dane Fox and Ludwig Blomstrand back in Kalamazoo, we will be tracking the Wings again.  They will play their first game of the season on Friday.
