It’s been another week in the Smylosphere as the Canucks prospects have been busy, doing what they do best, battling in corners and playing a full 60 minutes.  With that said some prospects are beginning to stand out while others are leading fans to question their future.  Without wasting time, let’s get right into the non-AHL prospects!

  • Cassels continued his strong play with 3 games, 3 goals and 2 assists, adding a +3.  Cassels is 5th in the OHL in scoring, and was a late add to Team OHL in the first Subway Super
    Series
game, playing on the 4th line and earning 4 PIM.  Jim Benning is keeping his eyes on
    Cassels and the
    pipeline.
      Flashback to Tony-G in
    2013 giving some early
    optimism
    to Cassels.
  • Jared McCann was out a few more games with his viral
    infection
but he returned to play one game with the Soo this week, scoring
an assist.  McCann played in the second OHL
Subway Super Series game on the second line playing with Josh
    Ho-Sang
    and earned a +1.  Apparently,
Nucks Misconduct is still a thing and they
    like
    McCann (and others).
  • Jordan Subban played in 3 games scoring 1 goal
    and 1 assist earning a +1 and 2 PIM.
Subban is 20th in league scoring and 1st of all
defencemen (by a margin of 3 points).
Subban played in the second OHL Subway Super Series game on the second
    defence pairing with Darnell Nurse.
  • Evan McEneny played in 2 games earning a +2.
  • Kyle Petit played in 3 games earning a +2.
  • Miles Liberati played in 3 games earning a -1
    and 4 PIM.

  • Jake Virtanen played in 2 games scoring a goal
and earning 8 PIM.  Some Virtanen Helmet
    Cam
action during the Super Series.  Vancouver could have had Nylander, but instead they grabbed the 17 year-old local boy with a major injury… should we be worried yet? (The answer is no, by the way)
  • McKenze Stewart played in 3 games earning a -3
and 10 PIM.  Stewart got in a fight
(above) and received an automatic one
    game suspension
    for a staged fight.
  • Anton Cederholm played in 3 games scoring 1
    assist and earning 2 PIM.
