THE INTRO
Sedins Week Part 1: Legend’s Night.
Luongo, Kesler, Naslund, Trevor, Bur…. Smyl, Gradin; The pregame for Canucks versus Predators is going to be a show. There is a lot of star power to celebrate the Sedins this week but after all of that, there is a game to play. The Canucks have lost three straight and it’s time to get back on the winning train.
Nashville is coming off of a loss as well and if Ryan Kesler can have a pregame meet and greet with Ryan Johansen we’d all be grateful.
A win this evening bumps the Canucks back into a tie for third in the conference. The puck hasn’t helped them out very much lately but that usually doesn’t last too long.

The injuries are back and I’d just like to say we missed you. What would a Canucks season be without a slew of injuries? Brock Boeser is the latest to be sidelined and he’ll be re-evaluated next week. Tyler Motte is still out, Josh Leivo was seen in a boot, Micheal Ferland is skating but should get to Utica shortly for his reconditioning stint.
As for the healthy ones, they’re being exposed by the NHL’s officiating crews and it might be time to bring back vigilante justice.

GAME NOTES AND A STAT OR TWO
  • When the season started, a three-game losing streak was sort of accepted, heck, so was a four-gamer. Now, everyone expects this team to bounce back and figure it out. Nashville is a great team for that to happen; not because they’re an easy team but because it will force the Canucks to dig that much deeper.
  • The last time the Canucks played the Predators they throttled Nashville for FIVE power-play goals. It was a great night indeed! Quinn Hughes had three assists and the Canucks looked unstoppable. It’s been a long time since that night and the power play hasn’t been the same since. I’ve predicted some impressive things lately so here goes: FOUR POWER PLAY GOALS… for the Canucks. When I’m correct, please e-transfer my winnings.
  • Adam Gaudette scored last game and he looked like he was ready to start another streak. He had a goal and an assist in the first game against the Predators this season. Capping it off with a matching total would be big for the young forward.
  • Both the Canucks and Predators are equally giving through all three periods this season. The Canucks have 56 goals in the first period -to the Predators 50, Nashville edging Vancouver 53-52 in the second, and the Predators took the third-period battle narrowly 68-66. Unless it’s another one-off game for the Canucks, this one will go down to the wire.
  • Vancouver has apparently embraced special teams this season. The Canucks have spent the second-fewest minutes per games played at 5v5 with 46:50, 19 seconds more than the Washington Capitals at 46:31. That won’t change a whole lot going forward which means Vancouver needs to figure out their power-play and try to keep the penalty minutes down. Tough to win the game when you’re shorthanded or not scoring on the PP.

“Henrik, what do you think you can do to get the power play going again?”
What do you think, should he be in there?
MY 94 CENTS
The Oscars were last night and of course, they award the best in the movie biz but tonight is the start of a week that celebrates the best players that ever laced up for the Canucks, no not Jason King or Daniel Rahimi, but the Sedins: Henrik and Daniel. They wowed us with their skill, their brains, and their generosity to the province of British Columbia.
It’s Legends Night and the Canucks will celebrate a handful of legends that have played for the franchise.
And then, they’ll play a game that needs to resemble that of a playoff match because the Canucks have been on the wrong end of those lately. No Boeser for the immediate future and STILL no answer on the man-advantage.
The Pacific division leaders need to step their game up.
AND ANOTHER THING…
This, of course, has shaped everyone’s childhood
