  • Cole Cassels is still serving his 10-game suspension and has
not played this week.  We are still
awaiting news to see if he will make the US World Juniors roster and/or if his
suspension will be reduced to 8 games to allow him to play.
  • Jared McCann played in 3 games this week scoring 1 goal and
    4 assists, earning a +5 and 9 PIM.
  • Jordan Subban played in 2 games scoring 1 assist earning a
+1.  His scoring has slowed down as of
late, and Subban is now 4th in OHL defencemen scoring behind Sarnia’s Anthony
DeAngelo, Oshawa’s Mitchell Vande Sompel (draft eligible) and North Bay’s Brenden Miller.
  • Evan McEneny scored 3 assists this week in 3 games and
earned himself a -1.  Subban better be careful or else McEneny will catch him in scoring.
  • Kyle “the sniper” Petit played in 2 games scoring 2 assists
(his first assists on the year) earning a +1. This will undoubtedly ruin his Cy Young trophy bid.
  • Miles Liberati had his best week of the year so far, in 3
games he scored 3 assists, earning a +4 and 2 PIM.

  • Jake Virtanen has not played any WHL games this week as he
has been been at the World Junior Camp and it sounds like he is a lock
to make the team.  Rhys covered his success so far on Monday.  His success in WJC exhibition action has Virtanen quite well noticed lately, and has earned himself the nickname “Showtime“.
  • Anton Cederholm played in 3 games earning a -3 and 2 PIM.
  • MacKenze Stewart played in 3 games earning a -1 and 5 PIM.

assist, 0 shots on goal, 2 PIM and seeing his ice time continue to drop. (With the Rouble continuing to fall, we may see Tryamkin on this side of the pond sooner rather than later too).
    • Gustav Forsling has played in 2 games this week notching 3
shots on goal, a +3, and seeing a slight increase in ice time.

    • The K-Wings are currently sitting in 11th in the
ECHL Eastern Conference, and 5th in their division, with a record of
9-12-1-1 good for 20 points in 23 games.
    • In the last week the Wings beat Gwinnett 4-1, Toledo 2-0 and
then lost to Toledo 2-5.  This upcoming
week the Wings play vs Fort Wayne and Toledo.
    • Curtis Valk continues to lead Kalamazoo in scoring.  This week he played in 3 games scoring 2
goals and 1 assist as well as 5 shots on goal.
    • Ludwig “Prospect #0” Blomstrand played in 3 games scoring 1
assist, earning a -1, and 5 shots on goal.
    • Dane Fox played in 3 games earning a -1, 0 points, 5 PIM and
      3 shots on goal.
    • Jeremie Blain played in 2 games scoring 1 assist, 4 PIM and
      0 shots on goal.
    • Patrick Kennedy is up to 12 points in 11 games played with Evansville Icemen.
    • Mitch Holmberg has not yet played a game in Elmira but could
see action as early as tonight.
Here’s the latest from our Kalamazoo Insiderrrr Sarah Hobday (follow her on Twitter if you want all the latest in K-Wings updates):
    • Valk scored his 1st goal at home on Friday. Continues to impress. Plays well against guys much larger than him.
    • Fox replaced on the top line by Columbus Prospect Gergo Nagy over the
weekend. But reunited with Blomstrand and Valk on the top PP unit. Fox
is almost impossible to move from the front of the net during the PP.
    • Valk and Blomstrand used heavily on the PK in the last month.
    • So far this season Blomstrand has shown improvement in the defensive
side of his game. Coach showing confidence in that by using him so much
on the PK. Blomstrand looks very comfortable defending in his own end.
    • Blomstrand and Fox had some great scoring chances but puck luck wasn’t on their side. – Blain looked very strong and had lots of ice time with his return to Kzoo.
