CANUCKS ARMY GDT# 61 – CANUCKS VS. SHARKS (MUMPS EDITION)
By Always90four
7 years agoThe Canucks are back from their bye week and it’s worse than when they left. Things were slightly rosier last weekend but now the Canucks sit nine points back of the 8th place Predators and Blues. Obviously, the San Jose Sharks are ready for the boys in blue and they’ll have an easier time tonight with approximately 1/3 of the Canucks lineup in quarantine.
Something about the mumps?
LINE COMBOS
It’s been a week and DFO is absolutely on top of the lines for the game. Thankfully, Jeff Paterson has the goods:
I’m not sure why everyone was so worked up about Jordan Subban not getting in the lineup, the 4th player flies free. People just needed to wait for the 5 o clock news.
Ryan Miller gets the net tonight.

LW | C | RW |
---|---|---|
Daniel Sedin | Henrik Sedin | Markus Granlund |
Alexandre Burrows | Bo Horvat | Jannik Hansen |
Loui Eriksson | Brandon Sutter | Jayson Megna |
Reid Boucher | Michael Chaput | Brendan Gaunce |
Defensive Pairings | |
---|---|
Alexander Edler | Troy Stecher |
Luca Sbisa | Chris Tanev |
Ben Hutton | Nikita Tryamkin |
The news is really boring on the Sharks side of the rink. They’re winning, lead the Pacific division and Joe Thornton is two assists shy of 1000 (somebody eats Hamburger Helper). Up and down this lineup, the Sharks are dangerous, as are real sharks, as are mumps.
Martin Jones should get the start.

Patrick Marleau | Logan Couture | Mikkel Boedker |

GAME NOTES, STATS, AND OTHER INTERESTING INFO
- As you read above, the Canucks are nine points back of the playoffs. There’s a small chance they could tough this all out and become the story of the year but we’ve all seen enough Canucks hockey in our time to know a high draft pick is more likely.
- Assuming you’ve lived under a rock, the Canucks have the mumps. Here is an interesting page that gets you up to speed (LINK)
- Jannik Hansen is the biggest trade chip the Canucks have and he is healthy. Despite all the mayhem going on around the team, if Vancouver has anything to gain, it would be a night of Sedinery and Hansen.
- Apparently, Joe Thornton is two assists away from 1000 and with the down and out Canucks adding the “mumps” to their problems, expect him to hit 1001.
- Evan McEneny may just play in his first ever NHL game. He’s done well in Utica lately and loves to shoot the puck. McEneny is 5th on the Comets in shots, just a few behind Jordan Subban. Maybe this becomes a future stud pairing in Vancouver?
WHAT THEY’RE SAYING
This one is serious, everyone.
MY TAKE
The hilarious thing in all of this may be that much of this lineup is the future of the Canucks. You wanted Jordan Subban, you got Jordan Subban. I know I’ve been waiting for Evan McEneny to get to the NHL so everything is coming up Millhouse in Vancouver. It could very well be a blood bath tonight but we’ll all be watching. I sure hope they don’t cough up the lead too early or the Sharks could really suffocate the Canucks.
ARE THE PLAYOFFS EVEN POSSIBLE ANYMORE?
No. It’s over.
