CANUCKS ARMY GDT# 19 – CANUCKS VS. BLACKHAWKS

This season could be going great or it could be the muted dumpster fire that it is currently and when the Blackhawks come to town, we pay attention.
The Canucks are coming off a come from behind win in OT with penalty shot hero Ben Hutton leading the way. The Blackhawks are coming off a win in Calgary (did someone say another opponent back to back? no one? ok) so the Canucks MIGHT have a chance in this one.
But the Blackhawks have Hossa and he does alright versus the Canucks. Oh well, dream the dream.

Derek Dorsett is out and it looks like Jayson Megna could slot in. You already know, I don’t get the inside track so that could be dead in the dirt by the time this goes live.
Jacob Markstrom will get another start but Ryan Miller will back him up this evening. I suppose things could get out of hand but I doubt they put Miller in. No one wants to play through the flu, well except Michael Jordan.
But he never played hockey.

Gustav Forsling is in the lineup. I feel like he should be playing for a different team but I can’t quite put my finger on it. Everyone else is scary from top to bottom but maybe we’ll get one of those now rare Canucks/Hawks gems.
Corey Crawford got the win last night but do they go wire to wire this weekend with him?

GAME NOTES, STATS AND OTHER INTERESTING NEWS
  • Ben Hutton is now ONE point away from Philip Larsen’s 4 because of this here goal:

  • Gotta think Troy Stecher and his boomer of a shot is jealous of that goal, maybe it’s contagious?
  • The Canucks have lost their last two games to the Blackhawks but that was before they had a sharp-shooting Markus Granlund, THE heir to the defensive crown, Troy Stecher and a healthy Brandon Sutter. OH BOY, this one’s turning into a heater!
  • Jacob Markstrom is in net tonight. He’s had a tough week. The win was great but the team in front of him wasn’t much help against NYR. He needs a big effort against Chicago this evening because it can’t be easy being the goalie for the Vancouver Canucks these days.
  • Bo Horvat is very close to being the best player on the Canucks, his net driving move combined with a goal might put him over the top. NO, it’s not going to take ONE game but his play is leaning that way.
WHAT THEY’RE SAYING
Everyone hates Calgary Mark, it’s ok. Welcome to Vancouver, come for the wins, stay for the limo rides.
MY TAKE
Nikita Tryamkin had a pretty good game versus the Coyotes and aside from that terrible accident with Brad Richardson, he has grown. I want to see him succeed because we need a big guy that can do something no one else can. I’d love to see Duncan Keith get levelled by Tryamkin tonight, oh that would be dandy!
VICTORY OR MORAL VICTORY TONIGHT?
The Canucks DID win last game so I suppose it’s time for a #moralvictory.
