Brock Boeser out for 4-6 weeks

The Canucks announced this morning that Brock Boeser will be sidelined for the next four-to-six weeks, effectively ending his 2017-18 season:

It’s really unfortunate that Boeser suffered this injury to end his fantastic rookie season. If the door had been closed, it’s likely that he wouldn’t have suffered such a fracture or soft tissue damage. It’s an unfortunate outcome to a hit that just oddly played out and no blame should be placed on any specific player. Things like this happen in the game of hockey and it’s most important to focus on the fact that the injury is not worse for Boeser.

It is really encouraging to see that he will make a fairly quick recovery and should be available to begin next season.

The Burnsville, MN native will end his rookie season with 29 goals and 26 assists in 62 games. He brought excitement to the fanbase that is looking to see who will form the next core of the Canucks.

With an early end to Boeser’s season, he will max out his Schedule A Bonuses as he will finish the campaign with a higher than 0.73 PPG rate. The full clause for the Schedule A bonuses in the CBA can be found below:

By earning the final $212,500 bonus, he will earn the maximum allowable amount of $850,000.
