The NHLPA Rookie Showcase kicks off next week, and the Canucks will be represented by 2015 1st round pick Brock Boeser
The showcase in collaboration with Upper Deck, who is the official NHL trading card partner is an event that has some of the best up and coming prospects don full uniforms for the first time. It also allows some media access to the players prior to them heading off to their various rookie tournaments and training camps.
Since Boeser was in the NCAA until near the end of last season, this will his first time attending the NHLPA rookie showcase. Previous years have seen the Canucks represented by Thatcher Demko (2016), Jake Virtanen and Ronalds Kenins (2015), Hunter Shinkaruk (2014) and Bo Horvat (2013).
There won’t be much to take away from the event, but it’s good to see that Boeser was included as some teams don’t have any representatives.
At the conclusion of the event, Boeser will likely head to Vancouver to prepare for prospect camp and the Young Stars tournament in Penticton.
