Another week has passed and Canucks prospects are making their mark!
The NCAA season kicks into full gear this weekend, while the Comets look to keep their decent start going. In the CHL, everyone is healthy and making an impact early in their respective seasons.
Overseas, we unfortunately have some healthy scratches and some other things going on.
We’ll cover this and more in this weeks edition of Blackfish!

Canada

WHL

alt
  • Jett Woo played two games this past week, picking up his first goal of the season. He continues to see regular time in the Warrios top four and is seeing regular play off time. He was named to Team WHL for the CIBC Canada Russia Series in November. His goal from this past week is below:

OHL

alt
  • Matt Brassard picked up one assist over three games this past week.
  • Michael Dipietro’s numbers continue to trend upwards – he is now 2-3-0 with 3.02 GAA and 0.907 SV%

United States

USHL

alt
  • Matthew Thiessen and the Dubuque Fighting Saints are off to a fantastic 4-1-1 start. They’ve been putting the puck in the net with regularity but Thiessen has been there as the last line of defence. With three great games this past week, Thiessen has seen his GAA slowly go down and his SV% are moved above the 0.900 mark.

NCAA

alt
  • William Lockwood and Quinn Hughes played one exhibition game against the U18 USNDTP this past week ( a 6-3 loss). Both players were held off the scoresheet. Michigan faces 19th ranked Western Michigan in a two game series this weekend.
  • Tyler Madden picked up two goals in two games for Northeastern. He has been playing on their first line and powerplay unit.
  • Jack Rathbone kicks off his season this weekend.

Europe

Russia

alt
  • Artyom Manukyan was unable to post a point in the two games that he was dressed for this week and appears to have been a healthy scratch this morning for Avangards’ contest.
  • Nikita Tryamkin has been a healthy scratch for a game this past week and has had his “C” removed. There isn’t a great amount of detail in English available on either decision.
  • Dmitry Zhukenov has still only appeared in one VHL contest this season.

Finland

alt
  • Toni Utunen did not register a point in the two Liiga games he played this week but did pick up a secondary assist in Tappara’s CHL game. They have moved onto the next round of Champions Hockey League.

AHL

alt
  • Since our last update, the Comets lost to Charlotte by a 4-3 score, then headed to Toronto and won both games there. They ended this past week with a 6-1 loss to Rochester.
  • Over the past week, Alex Biega cleared waivers and was assigned to the Comets. No word on when he will suit up.
  • Adam Gaudette was recalled to the big club.
  • Defenceman Jagger Dirk was loaned to Kalamazoo in the ECHL.
  • As always Comets Cory has you covered for everything Comets – check them out here.
  • Thatcher Demko is still recovering from the concussion suffered in training camp.

ECHL

  • At this moment, the Canucks have no prospects in the ECHL.
