Blackfish: CanucksArmy Prospect Report – November 2nd, 2017

We skipped a week – sorry!
But that means that there are even more updates and things to cover, so that’s good!
Elias Pettersson is the talk of the town, while goaltenders Thatcher Demko and Michael DiPietro continue to be brick walls. Jonah Gadjovich continues to battle a wrist injury while Kole Lind continues to put up points. Olli Juolevi plays well in Europe and some of the underrated prospects continue to put up points.

Jakob StukelRW20-241WHLCalgary136280.623625
  • Since our last update two weeks ago – Kole Lind has 7 points in 4 games including a four-point performance on Oct 21. It also includes this ridiculous pass from his teammate to spring him on the breakaway
  • Jakub Stukel with zero points in three games since our last update – Stukel’s production is concerning given his age. He does need to be signed before June 1, and at this moment, an ELC looks unlikely.

  • Jonah Gadjovich has missed the last two weeks with a wrist injury.
  • Cole Candella has slowed down a bit over the last couple of weeks with three assists in six games over the past two weeks. I’ve really liked his game, he has been playing a lot for Sudbury including top PK and PP units.
  • Brett McKenzie with two goals on October 22nd, but was held pointless in the other 5 games. Though his shot rates are very encouraging, if he keeps doing what he is doing then he should see some offence.
  • Matt Brassard was unable to score a goal but put up an assist in the 6 games.

Michael DiPietroG18OHLWindsor159-4-12.230.930%1
  • Michael DiPietro had a good couple of weeks – he is currently 1st in GAA, and 2nd in SV% amongst regular OHL netminders.

  • This Gaudette kid is pretty good – in the four games since our last update, he had 5 goals and 1 assist. He was named the NCAA Hockey East players of the week this past weekend. His shooting percentage will regress, but so far, it’s a great start to the season for Gaudette.
  • William Lockwood is starting to get going after recovering from should surgery over the summer – he had 2 goals and one assist in the four games since our last update.

  • Nikolay Goldobin and Reid Boucher continue to lead the attack, while Thatcher Demko has been a brick wall for the Comets. Zack MacEwen returned from an injury that he suffered at Young Stars and scored his first professional goal. Cole Cassels also returned to the Comets after suffering an injury in the pre-season.
  • Michael Chaput was recalled and then reassigned – at this moment, Jayson Megna and Patrick Wiercioch are up with the Canucks.
  • Anton Rodin was reassigned to the Utica Comets this morning.
  • Brendan Gaunce has been with the team on a conditioning stint – he has three points in three games. He is expected to play both Comets games this weekend and then come back up to the Canucks.
  • Thatcher Demko was named the AHL goaltender of the month on Wednesday
