Blackfish: Canucks Army Prospect Report – October 6th, 2017

alt
Another week has passed in the hockey world, and Canucks prospects continue to make noise.
Now we deal with some injuries, some re-assignments and some players continuing their hot streaks.
This report is a day late (sorry!) but it won’t be a buck short! So, let’s dive into this week’s Blackfish: Canucks Army Prospect Report!
All images of stats are from Elite Prospects.

CANADIAN HOCKEY LEAGUE

Western Hockey League

alt
  • Kole Lind has slowed down a bit, but that is only in comparison to his hot start to the year. He still has points in every game this year, and posted one goal and one assist in the two games this past week.
  • Jakob Stukel scored a goal in each of his two games this week.

Ontario Hockey League

alt
  • Like Kole Lind, Jonah Gadjovich has points in every game so far this year. In three games, he had 2 goals and 1 assist. Gadjovich has also been a shot-generating machine, averaging 6 shots on goal per game.
  • Cole Candella was limited to one assist in three games this past week – but it does feel like his production will see an uptick soon. He is generating shots and playing a lot of minutes for the Wolves. It may be wishful thinking, but I won’t be surprised to see a point streak from him in the coming weeks.
  • 2017 7th round pick Matt Brassard was limited to one assist in three games this past week.
  • A new addition is Brett McKenzie, who was released from his ATO with Utica and assigned back to the OHL. He did not register a point in his return to the North Bay lineup.
alt
  • Michael DiPietro has slowed down a bit – appearing two games giving up four goals in each contest. Nothing to be concerned about, as he is still tied for 5th in GAA, and 7th for SV%

NCAA

  • Adam Gaudette and the Northeastern University team took on the University of Prince Edward Island this past Saturday. Needless to say, it didn’t go well for the Canadian University as Northeastern won 9-1. Gaudette had 2 goals and 2 assists. Northeastern takes on Sacred Heart University on Friday and Saturday. Both of Gaudette’s goals from last weekend are below:
  • Michigan University played the University of Western Ontario in exhibtion play last weekend, and like the other NCAA game discussed above… it didn’t go well for one side. Michigan won 10-1. William Lockwood had one goal.

EUROPE

Sweden

alt
  • Elias Pettersson appeared in one game since our last update, where he was held pointless. He missed Tuesday’s Champions Hockey League game and then Vaxjo’s SHL game on Thursday with what is described as a ‘minor ailment’. He is day to day, and expected to return fairly soon.
  • For some reason, Rodrigo Abols was missing from Elite last week (I might’ve filtered the page wrong) – but he has zero points in five games for Orebeo.
  • Kristoffer Gunnarsson did not register any points this week – but he is slowly gaining more ice time with Frolunda.
  • Jonathan Dahlen will be heading to Sweden very soon, but we don’t which team yet.

Finland

alt
  • Petrus Palmu was held pointless in two games since our last update. He was also pointless in TPS’s CHL game this past week. A goal from last week is below:
  • Olli Juolevi was assigned to TPS earlier this week and has yet to dress for TPS Turku.

Russia

alt
  • Nikita Tryamkin had one assist in three games this past week as his ice time continues to trend upwards.
  • Dmitry Zhukenov appeared in two KHL games for Avangard Omsk this past week – he didn’t register a point. Let’s hope he stays up there.

Czech Republic

alt
  • Lukas Jasek had one goal and one assist in three Extraliga games. He also scored in Liberec’s CHL game. Both of his goals are below:

AHL

  • The Utica Comets played two exhibition games this past weekend against Syracuse. Losing the first game 3-2, and then taking the second game 3-1. All three of the Comet’s goals from Sunday are below:
  • There has been a slew of transactions over the past week including Cameron Darcy being signed to a PTO.

ECHL

  • Michael Garteig and Mackenze Stewart were assigned to the ECHL this past week.
