The Vancouver Canucks once again blew a multi-goal lead on Saturday night. The team was a late collapse away from winning four out of five games. Pile that loss in with Canucks President Jim Rutherford’s comments on Sportsnet 650, and tensions are reaching a boiling point in Vancouver.
Fortunately they’re set to face a struggling Ottawa Senators team that’s lost five straight games, here are three bets to key in on.
Easy Money
Bo Horvat to register over 2.5 shots at -150. My $10 bet would return $16.66.
Horvat is still tied for 2nd in goals in the NHL and despite not finding the back of the net in Saturday’s matchup against the Predators, he finished the game with 5 shots.
Horvat’s whopping 22 shots in 4 games (5.5 per game average) makes this the easiest bet of the day.
Special Teams
The Vancouver Canucks to score a power play goal at -150. My $10 bet would return $16.66.
The Canucks power play has been rolling this season, ranking third in the NHL. The Senators take the third most penalties in the league, so statistically I like this bet. Ottawa will also be without a key penalty killer in Aryom Zub.
Over/Under
The game to finish with over 6.5 goals at -134. My $10 bet would return $17.50.
The Canucks and Senators are built similarly, with a plethora of great forwards but a severe lack of depth and defensive presence on the blue line.
Statistically, this holds up too, as both teams are in the top half of the league in goals for and in the bottom half of the league in goals against. I like the over here.
