Welcome back to Betway Bets of the Day, brought to you by NHL betting odds site Betway!
The fans at Rogers Arena were given a treat on Tuesday night. It was a seesaw affair in the first-ever edition of the Hughes Bowl that saw big goals, big hits, blown leads, and the loudest the Canucks’ building has been in years. Despite climbing back from a 5-2 deficit in the third period, the Canucks ultimately lost 6-5 as Jesper Bratt scored the winner with less than a minute to go in regulation.
Vancouver will continue their five game home stand against the red-hot Minnesota Wild, who have won four straight games. Here are three bets I like for tonight’s game.

Player Prop

Vancouver Canucks to score a power-play at -134. My $12.50 bet would return $22.01.
This is a play I really love and even considered putting two units on. Vancouver has the fourth-best power-play in the league, while the Wild have the worst penalty-kill. Minnesota also ranks bottom five in the league in penalties taken. As you can see, the numbers love this one.
We’re going to manage our units and put a full one down here, but this is my play of the day.

Player Prop

Elias Pettersson to register over 2.5 shots at -134. My $10 bet would return $17.50.
There’s been a lot of dialogue in the city about Pettersson’s run of “bad play” which I simply disagree with. The Canucks star has scored six points in his last four games, five of which have come at even strength with Ilya Mikheyev and Sam Lafferty as his line-mates. He’s even been good on the shot meter, hitting his over 2.5 in three of those four games.
Pettersson has continued to get better game by game after a clear slump. I like him to hit his over tonight and will deploy .8 units here.

Money-Line

Vancouver to win money-line at -130. My $12.50 bet would return $22.11
This is an interesting one. I do understand why the bookies have this at close to a pick ’em, as Minnesota has been rolling recently and the Canucks have just been average. On the flip side of it, Vancouver is 16-9-1 this season, and Minnesota is 9-10-4 and the numbers get even more tilted when you look as their home/road splits.
The Canucks are 8-3-1 on home ice and the Wild are 4-6-2 on the road. I really like the Canucks here and will put a full unit on them to win.

Last Game Bets

Connor McDavid to register over 2 points at +110. My $10 bet would return $21.  – HIT
Brandon Montour to register over 2.5 shots at -134. My $10 bet would return $17.50. – MISSED
Alperen Sengun to register over 4.5 assists at -160. My $12.50 bet would return $20.31. – HIT
Montour was green in the third period, but the shot keepers took one away late and our streak of perfection ends. We staked $32.50 and returned $41.31. We are now up $143.61 (11.5 units) on the year.
