Welcome back to Betway Bets of the Day, brought to you by NHL betting odds site Betway!
A tired Canucks team on the second night of a back-t0-back got throughly outplayed and lost to the Calgary Flames 5-2 on Thursday night. Elias Pettersson opened the scoring, but Calgary dictated the game from that moment onwards. Thursday’s loss is just the second time in Vancouver’s last 13 games where they’ve failed to secure at least a point.
Next up for the Canucks is a battle with their closest geographical rival, as Vancouver looks to improve their 6-2 all time record against the Seattle Kraken. Here are three bets I like for tonight’s game.
Player Prop
After Hughes’ insane run of hitting his over in 13 out of 14 games, he has quieted down in the shot department going under in four of his last five. I like that to change tonight against a Kraken team who don’t suppress shots anywhere close to the level they did last season. We will put .8 units on this play.
Pre-Built Bets
Seattle to score a power-play goal at -105. My $10 bet would return $19.52.
The one aspect the Canucks aren’t dominating right now is the penalty kill, as they rank 22nd league wide, the one aspect Seattle is dominating at is the power-play as they rank seventh in the league. Trust the number here and deploy .8 units on this.
Player Prop
Andrei Kuzmenko to score anytime at +220. My $6.75 bet would return $21.60.
Kuzmenko was absolutely buzzing in the Islanders game prior to his injury and I even tweeted out “Kuzmenko is about to breakout.” Kuzmenko has registered six assists in his last six games, but is due to put one in the back of the net. Put .8 units on this play for a nice cash.
Last Game Bets
Elias Lindholm to register over 2.5 shots at -125. My $10 bet would return $18. – MISSED
Filip Hronek to register a power-play point at +325. My $6.75 bet would return $21.92. – MISSED
Vancouver to win money-line at +125. My $10 bet would return $22.50. – MISSED
I am usually hard on myself for a bad night, but I still liked the reads here. Hronek got first unit power-play time so we got really good value from him at +325. He got the “third assist” on the Pettersson goal, so we were super close, Lindholm missed by one shot too.
We staked $26.75 and returned $0. We are now up $113.35 on the year.
