The preseason has begun, meaningless hockey is being played, and it is a blast! This week, some young hopefuls made their Canucks debuts, Ben Hutton danced (again), and some veterans celebrated a birthday.
  • Troy Stecher and Thatcher Demko played their first games with the big club this week and contributed to a win over the Edmonton Oilers. The former NCAA kids shared an adorable post-game hug. Demko does need a new best friend now that Jared McCann is a Florida Panther. This could be the start of a beautiful thing.
  • Olli Juolevi made his debut as well, and showed his excitement by posting this fun photo with his new friend!
  • He also got to sign this kid’s arm this week! What a time to be Olli Juolevi.
  • The caption on the Province’s article after Wednesday night’s win was modern art.
  • Ben Hutton is dancing, obviously, but he’s got Bo Horvat getting in on the moves too.

  • When they’re not dancing, Hutton and Horvat are busy racing each other up mountains. The Canucks pre-season hype video is very Twilight Saga, but in a cool way.

  • Jake Virtanen spoke about he and Ben Hutton’s friendship with CTV this week. He denies the existence of a bromance, which seems a bit excessive. It’s a bromance, Jake. Live with it.
  • The Sedins turned 36 this week! It sucks that they have to get older, but it’s still pretty remarkable that they’ve been doing what they’re doing for so long. Here’s to many more Sedin birthdays in Canucks uniforms.
  • Jannik Hansen and Luca Sbisa may not be coming home World Champions, but their team was just the most precious, weren’t they?
