Jordan Bowman wants Jordan Schroeder to get a new number to replace the #45 Canucks sweater he’s been wearing so far this season. He suggests that Jordan Schroeder should wear the number 18, which is what the diminutive centreman has worn as a Chicago Wolves forward the past couple of years. In college and for Team USA at the World Junior Championships, however, Schroeder wore the number 19. He can’t wear the #19 on the Canucks for obvious reasons, so I think he should wait to make the team on a full-time basis and then go with the reciprocal and sport the number 91. [Legion of Blog]

Speaking of @Strombone1, Mike Gillis had some good insight into Roberto Luongo’s personal growth and his use of Twitter when he appeared on the Fan 590 with Doug MacLean and Nick Kypreos today. [Fan590]

"You know it’s funny because we’ve been talking about [the impact of @strombone1 on the public’s perception of Luongo] a lot, and I think what’s happened is that he’s just got got more comfortable, and this is who he is. He’s always been funny, he’s always had a great sense of humour. I think he just resigned himself to be the way he is. It’s fantastic. Everyone out here loves it. He’s shown and exposed a side of himself that a lot of people probably didn’t think he had, and you know, we’re enjoying it too. He’s got a great sense of humour, he’s pretty funny, some of the stuff can push the limits a little bit, but nah he’s just being himself."

The most interesting news from Macintyre’s take is buried in the eighth paragraph, though Macintyre obviously knew that it was a newsy item since he tweeted out the direct quote from Henrik regarding the possibility of signing an extension with the Canucks (Henrik’s contract expires following the ’13-14 NHL season, so the two sides can begin to talk extension this summer):
I’ll certainly be curious to see how those negotiations go, especially since the Sedins have been massively underpaid over the course of their current deals. All I’ll say is that hopefully the Canucks don’t "work to a deadline" again – I’m not sure my heart can take it – and instead sort out extensions for the twins this summer. [Vancouver Sun]
