The Utica Comets have done the expected and signed defenseman Adam Comrie to an AHL deal. Comrie has been with the team on a PTO, (professional tryout) since December 27th.
Comrie has played in 12 games, mostly as a forward, since joining the Comets. He has produced four goals and two assists, to give him six points during that span.
The 6’4″, 220lbs Comrie has provided both an offensive touch and a physical presence to the Comets lineup. The 27-year-old was originally a third-round pick, 80th overall by the Florida Panthers in the 2008 NHL Draft.
With the Comrie signing, and Michael Chaput waiting to clear waivers, don’t be surprised if the Comets make more moves in the coming days. The roster is starting to get a little crowded as players have come back from injury as well as the recent returns of Reid Boucher and Nikolay Goldobin from Vancouver.
The Comets are back in action on Wednesday at 4:00 pm Pacific when the Hartford Wolf Pack come to town. CanucksArmy will have your post-game report following the game.
